General Conditions


Northern Trails Tours is a registered and licensed tour company in Chiang Mai, Thailand, here-under referred to as "the Company".

The Company act as intermediary between hotels, airlines and transport companies providing services. Therefore the company is not responsible in case of loss, injury, damage that could happen to the client, including those occurring outside the tours or programs. Any loss or additional expenses incurred due to delays, accidents, natural disasters, political actions or government restrictions, must be borne by the clients. The handling of baggage is at the client's risk throughout the tour. Our programs, itineraries, services and prices, are established and based on a certain date, and therefore subject to change without notice, before or during the tour.

We are providing and operating day trips, and we are not responsible for any hotel/accommodation reservations. It is also the clients responsibility to be ready at the date, location and time mentioned on your trip booking confirmation. As most of our tours are join-in tours, our drivers will not be waiting for people not ready as mentioned, people late, or people still in their room at pick-up time. No-refunds are made for no-show.

Before you go

Clients are responsible for obtaining relevant visas and documents to enter legally the country. It is the client's own responsibility to meet our staff/guide or his representative, at the time and date agreed and mentioned in our final tour confirmation.

Weather condition

As all our trip are of "outdoor" nature, we run the trip all year long, rain or shine.

Due to the nature of most of our tours, participants must be aware of the hazards which may be associated with the activities. Therefore we strongly recommend that you carry your own travel insurance. Participants are responsible for loss or damage of provided equipment. Participants agree to accept the authority of the guide/tour leader throughout the tour. Our company hold an insurance policy for third party and basic coverage for accidents, as per required by law.


For some activities, we might ask participants to sign a "liability release" form, for certain tours. This will be sent via email during the booking process.

Deposit / payment

First step, following receipt of your booking request, we state the tour availability and ask for deposit or full payment for short notice reservation.

Participation in a tour will be confirmed to participants after reception of a booking deposit only. No deposit means no booking. Deposit must be received by the Company at least 7 days before the tour or services begin. Deposit is not refundable, as it will cover our booking fees and expenses. Instructions for final payment prior trip departure will be sent with tour registration, as we have different options available, depending of the period and number of persons in your party.


In case of cancellation by the client(s), the Company will always retain the full deposit (usually 30%). On the Company's side, once we have received a deposit, there is little reason that we should cancel a tour, however the Company reserves the right to cancel any trip at any time, in such case all payments/deposit already made will constitute full settlement with the participants.

Cancellation of fully paid tours, before 7 days of the date of the tour will be refunded for 70% of the tour price paid.

Between 6 days and 48 hours customers will be entitled to a 50% refund.

Cancellations less than 24 hours prior the tour departure is considered as no-show and no refunds at all will be made.

Refund value from the date and time the cancellation email was sent.

Refund Policy

Booking deposits are not refundable for any services.

Refunds will be processed via credit card, or other methods, and processing time might be up to two weeks. Absolutely no refunds are made on the spot.

High Season: During high season some tour reservations have a different refund policy, and this will be stated in your tour registration.

In case a participant decide to stop the trip for any reason during the tour or before the end of the program, no refund will be made for unused portions of the services.

Participant Agreement

Participation in our programs implies the client's agreement to the above conditions and the paid deposit stands for proof of acceptance of our general conditions.
